The Classic Rock Show, Bobby Harrison

Where and when were you born?

Harlow, Essex, England. Nineteen-seventy-several.

When did you start to play?

At the age of 13.

Tell us about some of your previous projects.

I spent a number of years playing original material in many bands. Several of these projects secured recording contracts. In recent years, I have toured the USA and Canada extensively with The Australian Pink Floyd Show and have played guitar for the hit Queen show We Will Rock You in London’s West End, as well as in Zurich, Stuttgart and Vienna - where I also performed with Brian May. In 2009, I toured Europe with Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show.

My studio work includes sessions for the late composer Michael Kamen on the song Jubilation: a piece written for Queen Elizabeth’s Golden Jubilee and recorded at Abbey Road studios, featuring Westlife, The Lighthouse Family and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. I also provided guitar work for another Michael Kamen composition: the soundtrack to the animated movie Back to Gaya, featuring Patrick Stewart. Additionally, I have provided session guitar, vocal and songwriting duties for Zomba Music Publishing.

Who are your influences?

Bands: The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Prince, King's X, Jellyfish, Soundgarden, Stevie Wonder, The Eagles...Too many to list. Guitarists: Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, David Gilmour, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Larry Carlton, Michael Landau, Peter Green, Joe Satriani, Joe Walsh, Robben Ford.

If you had to take one album to your desert island, what would it be and why?

Led Zeppelin II. Why? The outro section on "What Is and What Should Never Be" is one of the greatest moments in recorded rock music, in my opinion. Even the hairs on the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when I hear it.

What gear do you tour with?

Too much complicated rack gear. I'm currently looking to simplify it, but the core of my rig is a Cornford MK50 mkII head, an RJM RG-16 Switcher and Keeley Electronics Effects Pedals. Guitar-wise, I use Ernie Ball Musicman, Gibson and Fender electric guitars (depending on the nature of the gig) and various acoustic guitars.

One obscure interesting fact about yourself.

I often have trouble finishing sen...........
